Fascinating talk. It’s clear that much of what Dr. Brawley discusses still bites us today, especially in the world of pandemic hysteria.

Ugh, I fear not much. But has there been increasing awareness of how irrational our culture is with regard to health care spending (both sick care and health promotion), which might precipitate future change? Trying to find a silver lining....

And Dr. John, thanks for being one such source of rationality, done with both conviction and humility.

Perhaps even worse now? Rather than simply being ignorant we now commonly practice medicine against the evidence or with dubious “proof” that takes non conflicted clinical and statistical experts a large chunk of their own time and energy to sort out.

As a retired RN, I can confirm the truth of what Dr. Brawley pointed out. However, ultimately, it's the patient who is in charge of their own care. There needs to be great focus on teaching folks how to do that effectively. Generally, the docs haven't learned it either, but I seem to be noticing that many of the younger ones do better. In a nutshell: what's involved, what's the down-side, how often does it work, what does success look like, how will we know?
