We're all trying to make sense of a senseless world and it's exhausting. Take care of yourself and your loved ones.

John — There is currently so much hatred, confusion, greed, and ignorance in our world that it seems obvious where we are headed. One of these maniacs will soon push the button and unleash the final chapter on this failed human experiment. One need only plot the direction of recent political, ecological, and ethical events to foretell the direction we are headed. Now is the time to hold our loved ones close and savor this beautiful life and the limited moments we have left. No one is riding to save us at the last moment. And there will be no safe place to avoid our fate. Humanity is wonderful and horrible. We are our own creators and destroyers. Sadly, our dark, ignoble traits have doomed us. Momentum is inexorably pushing us to the abyss. Now, our most precious possession is the scant time we have left. Don’t squander it. Laugh, love, sing, pray, marvel, and cry with the intensity as if it is the final time. It is a sure symptom of our insanity that some commenters on this board believe there is justification for the violence and depravity of recent days. Or, that there is a right and wrong political side to the horrors. It just proves we are truly lost. Yet I am deeply grateful for the wonders of this planet, it’s natural splendor, and this corporeal life I have been privileged to experience, despite it’s pain, suffering, and inhumanity. These are what I will hold dear as our time runs out.

I am a parent and grandparent also. I was walking down the back hall of my clinic coming back from delivering a baby on 9/11 and one of my coders yelled at me "Hey Dr. Vaughn. Another plane just hit the towers." I remember thinking "This was NOT an accident." Of course at the time I believed the official narrative but now I realize it was my own government that did that to us. Now, with all the insanity around CoVid and the economy I again am thinking "This is NOT an accident." Our government officials have done all this to us ON PURPOSE only this time the suppression of HCQ and ivy have cost millions of lives instead of a little under three thousand. The attack on Israel, funded by $6 billion of OUR tax dollars, is just another distraction from their crimes against humanity.

Dr. DLV — “Our tax dollars” had nothing to do with this savage attack. It is unconscionable to turn this tragedy into political propaganda to influence the next election. We sink to a new low everyday now.

By all means, Doctor, you are completely entitled to take a break to reflect and emote. You would not be as insightful and credible as you are without such intermissions from the writing/creating grind.

I remember clearly being called to the Cleveland Clinic where I was doing volunteer work for the addictions program while I was in grad school. A lot of people had relapsed worried it was “the end” and I had a hard time wrapping my head around that; so I just helped all I could and then picked up some ammo the next day. And kept helping people regain footing on their recovery. I know now that no matter what, there isn’t a drink or drug anyone can do to make things better. Horrible way to learn that lesson but it’s drilled in.

I hear what you are saying and feel the numbness as well. May God protect us from the evil that surrounds us.

Ms2011 — Hatred an horrors in both sides, to be sure. But nothing can justify what just occurred. It is inhumane to suggest that it is.

Be well, John. We look forward to your return, when you are ready. ❤️

You are truly insane if you believe these horrors are in any way justified.
